Resigning well
A resignation letter has one purpose: to put on record that you are leaving and when. It goes into your personnel file and may be read by future reference-checkers, so the best letters are short, positive and final — your role, your last day, thanks, and an offer to help with the handover. Reasons are better given in conversation; if you include one, keep it to a neutral sentence. Tell your manager face to face or on a call first, then send the letter the same day so the date is clear. The last working day is the letter's date plus your notice period; check your contract, because notice sometimes runs from the following day, some employers count working days only, and many contracts in the UK and elsewhere require one month or more for senior roles.
