Receipt Generator

A till-style receipt for a payment received: items, tax and a PAID stamp. Print or PDF.

About this tool

Fill in your business details, the customer, items with quantity and price, tax if you charge it, and how they paid; the receipt lays itself out as you type, numbered and dated, and prints or saves as PDF. ‘Next receipt’ increments the number for the next customer. Stored in this browser only.

Receipts, invoices and what a receipt must show

A receipt is proof that a payment was made; an invoice is a request for one. Sellers at markets and fairs, tutors, tradespeople paid in cash, landlords taking a deposit, and anyone selling a second-hand item privately are asked for receipts, and a printed one with a number and a date settles later questions about what was paid for. The layout here is the narrow till-roll style people recognise, with a subtotal and tax line only when there is tax, and a stamp. Honest notes: rules on what a receipt must show — a tax registration number, a breakdown of tax, a business address — vary by country and by whether you are registered for sales tax or VAT, so check the requirement for your case; and this is a document, not bookkeeping — keep a copy for your own records. Nothing is uploaded. The invoice generator is for the request before payment, the quotation generator for the price before the work, and the expense report generator for the buyer claiming it back.

Frequently asked questions

How do I save it as a PDF?

Click Print and choose ‘Save as PDF’. Only the receipt prints, without the form or the page.

Can I add a logo?

The first line of your business block is set in bold as the header; the template is deliberately plain so it prints cleanly on any printer, including receipt printers.

Does it keep a record of receipts issued?

It keeps the current receipt and the next number in this browser. Export or print each one; it is not an accounting ledger.

Is customer information uploaded?

No — everything stays in your browser's local storage until you clear it.
