Packing Slip Generator
Printable packing slips with ordered, shipped and back-ordered quantities.
About this tool
Enter your business address, the customer's shipping address, the order number and dates, the shipping method and tracking number. List the items one per line as "SKU | description | ordered | shipped". Leave shipped blank when everything went out, or enter a smaller number to show a back-order. Add notes such as returns information. The packing slip builds as a clean, printable page with totals and sign-off lines for packing and checking.
What a packing slip is for
A packing slip, also called a delivery note or packing list, travels inside the parcel and lists what was shipped. Unlike an invoice it shows no prices, which suits gifts and orders paid in advance. The customer uses it to check the parcel, the warehouse uses it to pick and pack, and it makes returns easier because the order number and SKUs are on hand. When part of an order is out of stock, the slip should show it clearly. In the example, a customer ordered six units across three lines and five shipped, so the cast-iron teapot shows one back-ordered, with a note saying when it will follow. That one note prevents a "where's my teapot?" email. Print the slip on A4 or Letter, or save it as a PDF to attach to an email. The invoice generator and the receipt generator cover the money side, the purchase order generator handles buying stock, and the barcode generator makes SKU labels.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a packing slip and an invoice?
An invoice requests payment and shows prices. A packing slip lists what is in the box, usually without prices, so the recipient can check the contents.
What should a packing slip include?
Your business details, the shipping address, the order number and date, the shipping method, and each item's SKU, description and quantities ordered and shipped.
How do I show a back-ordered item?
Enter fewer shipped than ordered on that line, for example 'FT-POT-02 | Teapot | 1 | 0', and add a note saying when it will follow.
Is my draft saved?
Yes, in your browser only. It is never uploaded, and Start over clears it.
