Timesheet Calculator
Weekly hours from start and end times with breaks, overtime rules and gross pay.
About this tool
A week of rows โ Monday to Sunday โ with start time, end time and break minutes. Totals show per day and for the week in hours and minutes and in decimal hours, split into regular and overtime by a daily limit, a weekly limit or both, with gross pay at your rate and overtime multiplier. The week is saved in this browser; print it or export a CSV.
Getting hours right for payroll
Most timesheet mistakes are conversion mistakes: 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 decimal hours, not 7.45, and that 0.3-hour gap on every shift adds up. The calculator does the minutes arithmetic, subtracts unpaid breaks, and handles shifts that end after midnight (a 22:00โ06:00 night shift is 8 hours, not โ16). Overtime rules differ by country, state and contract: the US federal rule pays time-and-a-half after 40 hours a week, California also after 8 hours in a day, and many contracts set their own thresholds โ set the limits to match yours. Gross pay is before tax and deductions. Honest notes: this is a record and a calculator, not a time-clock โ enter times as they happened. Saved locally, never uploaded. The payslip generator turns the totals into a pay statement, the overtime pay calculator handles one-off overtime sums, the hours calculator adds a single span, the time tracker records live, and How working days are counted โ and why 'within 5 business days' means different things covers counting working days.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert hours and minutes to decimal?
Divide the minutes by 60 and add to the hours: 7h 45m = 7 + 45/60 = 7.75. The timesheet shows both formats for every day.
Can it handle night shifts that cross midnight?
Yes. If the end time is earlier than the start, it is treated as the next day, so 22:00 to 06:00 counts as 8 hours before breaks.
How is overtime calculated?
Hours beyond the daily limit (if set) count as overtime first; then any regular hours beyond the weekly limit are moved to overtime. Overtime is paid at your multiplier, for example 1.5ร.
Is my timesheet stored online?
No. It is saved in this browser's local storage so you can fill it in during the week. Nothing is uploaded; clear it with the Clear week button.
