About this mouse tester

Click in the test pad and each button lights as it fires โ€” left, middle, right, and the back/forward side buttons. The wheel moves a bar so skipped or reversed scroll steps show immediately, and the double-click timer measures the gap between your two clicks in milliseconds.

The event-rate figure estimates how fast the browser is receiving movement events. Browsers coalesce input, so treat it as a floor rather than the mouse's true polling rate.

The faults this catches

Double-clicking on a single click is the classic dying-mouse fault: the switch contacts bounce and register twice. You will see the button flash twice for one press, and the double-click timer will show impossible sub-50 ms gaps you did not perform.

Wheel skips โ€” the bar jumping the wrong way mid-scroll โ€” mean a worn encoder. Silent side buttons usually just mean the mouse does not have them, or its software maps them to something else.

Before buying a replacement: swap the USB port, and on a wireless mouse change the battery โ€” low power produces convincingly broken behaviour. If clicks are fine here but games feel laggy, test clicks per second and reaction time to separate the hardware from the human.

Most systems ship with a threshold around 500 ms between clicks. Anything under that registers as a double-click; the timer here shows your actual gap.

Can I test my scroll wheel here?

Yes โ€” scroll inside the pad and the bar moves with each step. Jumps in the wrong direction or missing steps point to a worn wheel encoder.
