Checklist Maker

Turn a list into a tickable, printable checklist with sections and templates.

About this tool

Type items one per line (a line starting with ## makes a section), pick a template if you like, and get a checklist you can tick in the browser or print with empty boxes. The state is saved on this device; Reset clears the ticks for the next run.

Why checklists work

Checklists are the cheapest reliability tool there is: aviation and surgery adopted them because experts skip steps under time pressure, not because they lack knowledge. The useful ones are short, specific and written for the moment of use β€” "confirm backup completed" rather than "backups" β€” and split into the natural pauses of the task, which is what the section headings are for. The templates here (packing, move-in, event day, weekly clean, new-hire, release) are starting points to edit, not gospel. For a recurring checklist keep it in the browser and reset it each time; for a shared one print it. Nothing is uploaded. The to-do list is for one-off tasks with priorities, the packing list generates a trip list from the trip type, and the habit tracker handles daily habits over weeks.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make sections?

Start a line with ## and the section title β€” everything below it until the next ## belongs to that section.

Can I share a checklist with someone?

Print it, or copy the text and send it β€” they can paste it into this tool. There is no shared online copy, which is also why nothing you type leaves your device.

Does it remember my ticks?

Yes, in this browser, so you can close the tab mid-task. Reset clears the ticks and keeps the items.

How is this different from the to-do list?

A checklist is the same steps every time (a procedure); a to-do list is different tasks with priorities and dates. Use the to-do list for work, this for routines.
