Habit Tracker

Tick off daily habits and watch your streaks grow โ€” saved on this device.

About this habit tracker

Add a habit, then tick the box each day you do it. The grid shows your last two weeks at a glance and the ๐Ÿ”ฅ column counts your current streak. Missed logging yesterday even though you did the thing? Click yesterday's box โ€” the grid lets you backfill any of the visible days.

A day you haven't ticked yet doesn't break the streak until it's actually over, so checking the page in the morning never greets you with a zero. Everything is stored on your device โ€” no account, nothing uploaded.

Why streaks work (and when they don't)

A streak turns an abstract goal โ€” โ€œbe someone who exercisesโ€ โ€” into a concrete one: don't break the chain. The method is old; comedians, writers and programmers have all sworn by a wall calendar and a marker. The daily tick is a tiny reward, and protecting a long streak is a surprisingly strong motivator precisely because it's visible.

The failure mode is all-or-nothing thinking: one missed day reads as ruin, and the habit dies with the streak. The fix most behaviour research lands on is the โ€œnever miss twiceโ€ rule โ€” a single miss is noise, two in a row is a trend. Backfilling honestly and restarting without ceremony matters more than any individual run of days.

Building a habit that sticks

  • Shrink it until it's easy. โ€œRead one pageโ€ builds the identity; the volume comes later on its own.
  • Anchor it to something you already do. After coffee, after brushing teeth โ€” existing routines are the best triggers.
  • Track no more than a handful. Five habits ticked daily beats fifteen abandoned by Thursday.
  • Never miss twice. The first miss is life happening; the second is the habit unravelling.

Frequently asked questions

How is the streak counted?

Consecutive ticked days ending today or yesterday. A day you haven't ticked yet doesn't break the streak until it has actually passed โ€” so an unticked today still shows yesterday's run.

Can I log a day I forgot to tick?

Yes โ€” the grid shows the last 14 days and every box is clickable, so you can backfill (or untick) any of them.

Where is my habit data kept?

In your browser's local storage, on this device only. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account โ€” clearing site data or switching browsers starts you fresh.

How many habits should I track?

Fewer than you think โ€” three to five is the sweet spot. The tracker doesn't cap you, but long lists are the most common reason habit tracking itself becomes the abandoned habit.
