YouTube Description Generator
A full video description with hook, chapters, links, CTA and hashtags.
About this tool
Fill in a hook, summary, chapters (one per line, such as "0:00 Intro"), links as "label | URL", a call to action, social links, credits and hashtags. Add an affiliate disclosure with one click. The tool assembles a tidy description and checks the chapters against YouTube's rules, the 5,000-character limit and the hashtag count. Copy or download it. The draft is saved in your browser.
How to write a YouTube description
The description helps viewers decide to watch and helps YouTube understand your video. Only the first one or two lines (roughly 100β150 characters) show above the fold, and they can also appear in search results, so open with a hook that states the payoff and includes your main keyword. Follow with a short summary in natural language. Chapters make long videos easier to navigate and can appear in Google search. YouTube creates them when the description has at least three timestamps, the first is 0:00, and each chapter is at least 10 seconds long. The tool checks all three. Then add links (resources, products, related videos), any required affiliate or sponsorship disclosure, one clear call to action, your social links and music or footage credits. Finish with three to five hashtags. The first three appear above the title, and using more than 15 makes YouTube ignore them all. Honest limits: a description can't rescue a video people don't watch, so write for viewers first and avoid keyword stuffing. Disclosure rules vary by country (FTC in the US, ASA in the UK). The hashtag generator, the blog title generator and the social media character counter are related.

List timestamps in the description: start with 0:00, include at least three, and make each at least 10 seconds long.
How long can a YouTube description be?
Up to 5,000 characters, but only the first 100β150 or so show before 'more'.
How many hashtags should I use on YouTube?
Three to five. The first three show above the title, and more than 15 means YouTube ignores them all.
