Opening theory and endgame honesty
The strategy is information economics. Openers earn their keep by coverage: RAISE, SLATE and CRANE probe the highest-frequency letters; ADIEU buys four vowels at the cost of weak consonant intel. The mid-game discipline is using ambers immediately (a known letter in a new position every guess) and remembering greys are also clues โ eliminating E reshapes the space more than finding a Q. The duplicate rule catches everyone once: guess SPEED against a one-E answer and exactly one E lights, telling you the count as well as the letter. The word pool here is 600+ common words โ obscure dictionary bombs are deliberately absent, so a loss is on the solver, which is the honest version of the game. Typing speed won't help; hangman is the letter-frequency ancestor, and word search the meditative cousin.
