No track versus a silent track
There are two ways to “mute” a video and they behave differently downstream. A silent audio track still exists — players show a volume control, editors import an empty lane, and platforms may flag the audio. Removing the track entirely, as this tool does, gives a file that is unambiguously video-only, which is what upload forms, dubbing workflows and muted-autoplay web videos want. The uses: a screen recording with a phone ringing in the background, footage you'll voice over, a clip for a feed that autoplays muted, or something recorded with music you can't distribute. Since browsers can't edit a file's tracks in place, the picture is re-recorded in real time on your device, so the clip's length is the processing time, and the output is WebM; the MP4 converter follows where the browser supports it. To keep the audio and drop the picture instead, video to audio; to replace the sound, record the new track with the voice recorder and combine in an editor.
