Reward Chart Maker
Printable star or sticker charts for kids: goals, days and a reward.
About this tool
Type the child's name, three to five goals, the number of days, how the boxes should look and the reward. A bright chart appears in the preview, ready to print for the fridge. Set a start date to label the columns with weekdays, and a target so they know how many stars earn the treat.
Making a reward chart work
Reward charts, also called sticker charts, star charts or behaviour charts, help young children see their progress towards a goal. They're used for toothbrushing, getting dressed, bedtime routines, potty training, tidying up, reading and homework. What makes them work is how you set them up. Choose a few specific, positive goals: "brush teeth morning and night" works better than "don't fuss at bedtime", and three to five goals is plenty. Keep the target reachable. The example has four goals over seven days, which makes 28 boxes, with a target of 20, so a few bad days don't ruin the week. Add the sticker straight away and praise the effort out loud. Agree the reward together in advance, keep it modest (time together, a trip to the park, choosing dinner), and swap goals once a habit sticks so the chart stays fresh. For older children, a points chart or the habit tracker may suit better. Honest limits: charts help many children but not all. If one isn't working after a couple of weeks, simplify the goals or change the reward rather than adding pressure, and talk to your health visitor or GP if behaviour worries you. The chore chart, the habit tracker and the certificate generator are related, and How long does it take to build a habit? explains habit formation.
Frequently asked questions
How do you use a reward chart?
Pick 3โ5 clear goals, add a sticker or star each time one is done, praise straight away, and give the agreed reward when the target is reached.
What age are reward charts for?
They work best for children aged about 2 to 8. Older children often prefer points or a habit tracker.
Can I use real stickers?
Yes. Choose 'Empty (for stickers)' to print plain boxes.
Is anything saved?
