Read any QR code from a saved picture, a screenshot, or live from your camera. Decoding happens in your browser; the result is shown as text (with links, Wi-Fi codes and contact cards labelled), copied with one tap, and links are never opened automatically.
Why links are shown, not opened
A QR code is just text that anyone can print, and “quishing” — codes that lead to phishing pages, pasted over restaurant menus and parking meters — is now a routine scam. Phone cameras open codes instantly, which is convenient and exactly the problem. This scanner decodes and SHOWS you the address so you can read the domain before tapping it. Beyond safety, it handles the cases phones fumble: a code in a screenshot someone sent you, a code on your own screen, a code in a PDF you've saved as an image. The decoder (jsQR, open source) runs in the page; camera frames are analysed live and discarded, and images never leave your device. Can I scan a QR code from a screenshot?
Yes — that's the case phones handle worst and this tool handles best. Drop the screenshot or photo; the code is decoded on your device.
Why doesn't it open the link automatically?
Deliberately: QR codes are a common phishing vector. The decoded address is shown so you can check the domain before visiting. It's one extra tap for a lot of safety.
Does the camera video go anywhere?
No — frames are analysed in your browser and thrown away. Nothing is recorded, stored or uploaded; the camera stops when a code is found or when you press stop.
Why won't my code scan?
Blur, glare, too small, or the code cut off at the edges. QR codes need their three corner squares and the white margin visible — fill the frame and hold steady.
