Choose 2, 4, 6 or 9 pages per sheet on A4 or Letter, and the tool lays your pages into a tidy grid with print-safe margins โ turning the sheet landscape when the grid fits better that way. Pages keep their aspect ratio, centred in their cells, and stay vector-sharp.
Which layout for which job
2-up is the proof-reader's format โ two pages side by side, big enough to actually read, half the paper. 4-up is the classic slide handout: a deck of forty becomes ten sheets with room to squint. 6-up suits lecture notes and comics; 9-up makes storyboards and thumbnail overviews where you're judging shape, not reading. Because everything stays vector, even 9-up text survives a close look โ the limit is your eyes and printer, not the file. Paper arithmetic: n-up divides sheet count by n, and double-sided printing divides it again โ a 36-page document at 6-up, duplexed, is three sheets. The special case n-up can't do is the fold-in-half booklet, where page ORDER must change too โ that's the booklet maker. Scaling one page per sheet to a new size is fit to page.

Why did my sheet turn landscape?
2-up and 6-up grids fit portrait pages better on a landscape sheet โ two portrait pages side by side ARE a landscape rectangle. 4-up and 9-up stay portrait.
Will small text still be readable?
Pages scale as vectors, so nothing blurs โ at 4-up, ordinary 11pt text becomes ~5.5pt: readable to good eyes, comfortable with reading glasses. 9-up is for overview, not reading.
Can I make a foldable booklet with this?
No โ booklets need pages reordered into printer spreads (last page next to first), not just placed side by side. The booklet maker does that arithmetic.
How much paper does n-up save?
Sheet count divides by n, and double-siding halves it again: 100 pages at 4-up duplex is 13 sheets instead of 100.
