Mood & Gratitude Journal
Daily mood, gratitude notes and patterns over time.
About this tool
Each day, pick a mood from awful to great, tap tags for what the day involved, write up to three things you're grateful for and an optional note; the journal shows a 12-week mood calendar, weekday averages and which tags go with better days.
Why track mood and gratitude
Moods are easy to misremember: a rough week can colour how the whole month feels. A quick daily rating builds an honest record, and tagging what each day involved (sleep, exercise, time outdoors, friends, work, stress, alcohol) lets patterns show up, such as better days after exercise or worse ones after short sleep. The journal compares your average mood on days with and without each tag once a tag has been used three times, and shows your average by weekday and a 12-week colour calendar. The gratitude prompt is based on the well-studied 'three good things' exercise: writing down a few things that went well each day is linked in research to small, lasting improvements in wellbeing. Keep entries short so the habit sticks, and write at the same time each day, such as before bed. Everything stays private in this browser, with JSON or CSV export for backups. Honest limits: patterns show association, not cause, and need several weeks of entries; this is a self-reflection tool, not a medical or mental-health assessment. If you are struggling, talk to someone you trust, a doctor or a local helpline. The habit tracker and the daily planner are related.
Frequently asked questions
What should I write in a gratitude journal?
Three specific things that went well today and, ideally, why they happened. Small things count.
How long before I see patterns?
Usually a few weeks. Tag comparisons appear once a tag has been used on at least three days.
Can I edit a past day?
Yes. Choose the date and the saved entry loads so you can change it.
Can I export my journal?
Yes. Download it as JSON or CSV at any time.
Where is my data stored?
Only in this browser on this device. There is no account, nothing is sent anywhere, and Clear all deletes it; export a copy before clearing browser data or changing device.
