Mileage Log

Log business trips, apply a per-mile rate and export the claim as CSV.

About this tool

Add each trip โ€” date, from, to, purpose, distance โ€” choose miles or kilometres and a rate (with a second rate above a threshold for schemes like the UK 45p/25p), and see the total distance and claim. Export CSV for your accountant or expense system. The log stays in this browser.

Records that survive an audit

Tax authorities and employers accept mileage claims on the strength of the log, and the log needs the same things everywhere: date, start and end point, business purpose, and distance โ€” recorded at the time, not reconstructed in April. This tool gives you the form and the arithmetic; keeping it honest is on you. Rates are yours to enter because they differ by country and year (the UK approved rate, the US IRS standard mileage rate, per-kilometre rates in Australia and Canada are all revised annually) โ€” look up the current figure and put it in. The two-rate option handles schemes where the rate drops after a threshold. Honest limits: it does not track you by GPS, does not know the distance between two addresses, and is not tax advice. Your log is stored in this browser only and never uploaded. The expense report generator carries the total into a claim, the fuel cost calculator shows what the trip actually cost, and the date difference calculator counts the period.

Frequently asked questions

Which rate should I use?

The one your employer or tax authority publishes for the current year โ€” the tool has no built-in rates because they change annually and by country. Enter it once; it is remembered.

Can I log round trips?

Enter the full round-trip distance, or tick the round-trip box to double the one-way figure.

Does it track my location?

No. There is no GPS; you enter the distance from your odometer or a map. Nothing leaves your device.

What does the CSV contain?

One row per trip with every field plus the calculated amount, and a totals row โ€” which is what most expense systems and accountants want.
