Age on Other Planets
Your age in Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and other planet years, and next birthdays.
About this tool
Enter your date of birth and the tool shows your age in each planet's years, the date of your next birthday there with how many days to go, and how many local days (Martian "sols", Venusian days and so on) you've lived. Nothing is stored.
Why your age differs on each planet
A year is the time a planet takes to orbit the Sun once, and that depends on distance. Planets further out travel a longer path more slowly. Using NASA planetary fact sheet figures, a year lasts 88 Earth days on Mercury, 225 on Venus, 687 on Mars, about 11.9 Earth years on Jupiter, 29.5 on Saturn, 84 on Uranus and almost 165 on Neptune. Pluto, now classed as a dwarf planet, takes 248. To find your planetary age, the tool divides the number of days you've been alive by the planet's orbital period. Someone born on 20 May 1990 is over 150 in Mercury years but only 3 on Jupiter, and won't have their first Neptune birthday until 2155. Days differ too. A solar day (sunrise to sunrise) on Mars, called a sol, is 24 hours 40 minutes. On Jupiter it's under 10 hours, and on Venus, which spins slowly backwards, about 117 Earth days, shorter than its year of 225 days. Honest limits: the calculation uses average orbital periods and ignores small variations, so birthdays are accurate to about a day. It's a fun way to explore the solar system rather than an astronomical ephemeris. The weight on other planets calculator, the age calculator and life in weeks are related.
Frequently asked questions
How old would I be on Mars?
Divide your age in days by 687. Someone who is 36 Earth years old is about 19 in Mars years.
How long is a year on each planet?
Mercury 88 days, Venus 225, Mars 687, Jupiter 11.9 years, Saturn 29.5, Uranus 84, Neptune 165.
Why is a day on Venus longer than its year?
Venus spins very slowly, backwards, so its sunrise-to-sunrise day is 117 Earth days, compared with a 225-day year.
