When to use this, and when to use Word's own export

The case for this tool is the device without Word: a phone, a Chromebook, a locked-down work machine, or a file someone sent that you just need to read, print or attach as a PDF. It unzips the .docx, reads paragraphs, headings, bold runs, list items and page breaks straight from the document XML, and lays them out on A4 with margins and page numbers using the PDF's built-in fonts — a readable, printable document in a second. The honest limits are the things a re-layout can't do: images, tables, columns, custom fonts, headers and footers, comments and tracked changes don't come across, and the built-in font covers Latin text (accents included) but not other scripts, which print as question marks. When you have Word or Google Docs, their Save-as-PDF is pixel-faithful and the right choice for a CV or a formatted report; when you don't, this gets the words onto a proper PDF without handing the file to a conversion server. The reverse trip is PDF to Word; to add a signature afterwards, PDF sign; to combine with other PDFs, merge PDF.
