Log weigh-ins and see the real trend and goal date.

About this tool

Log weigh-ins in kg or lb, optionally add your height and a goal weight, and see your trend weight, change since you started, weekly rate, BMI, distance to goal and an estimated goal date, with a chart of every weigh-in.

Why the trend matters more than the scale

Body weight can swing by 1 to 2 kg (2 to 4 lb) from one day to the next with water, salt, carbohydrate, digestion and hormones, so a single weigh-in can look like a gain during a week of real loss. The tracker draws a 7-day average line through your weigh-ins and calculates your rate of change from the trend of the last four weeks (a least-squares fit), which is far steadier than comparing two days. Weigh yourself under the same conditions each time: same scale, in the morning after using the bathroom and before eating or drinking, in similar clothing. Daily or several times a week works best for a smooth trend. A loss of about 0.5 to 1 kg (1 to 2 lb) a week is the pace usually recommended for lasting results; the tracker flags faster changes. With a goal weight it estimates when you will reach it at your current rate, which is a guide rather than a promise, since rates slow as you get closer. BMI is shown if you add your height. Honest limits: BMI doesn't distinguish muscle from fat; this is not medical advice, and large or unexplained weight changes deserve a doctor's input. The calorie calculator and the BMI calculator are related.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my weight go up and down every day?

Water, salt, food and hormones shift daily weight by 1 to 2 kg; the 7-day trend line shows the real direction.

How often should I weigh myself?

Daily or a few times a week, under the same conditions, gives the clearest trend.

How is the goal date estimated?

From your rate of change over the last four weeks, assuming it continues.

Can I switch between kg and lb?

Yes. Weights are stored in kg and shown in either unit.

Where is my data stored?
