Username Generator
Username ideas from your name or keywords, checked against each platform's rules.
About this tool
Type your name or a few keywords (or leave it blank), choose a style, the platform and a separator, and get 24 username ideas. Only names that fit the platform's rules are shown, such as X's 15-character limit or Discord's lowercase-only usernames. Tap a name to copy it, or press More ideas for a fresh batch. Nothing is stored.
How to choose a good username
A good username is short, easy to say and spell, and recognisably yours. If you're building a personal brand or business, use the same handle on every platform so people can find you. Each platform has its own rules. Instagram allows up to 30 letters, numbers, full stops and underscores. TikTok allows 2–24 of the same. X (Twitter) allows 4–15 letters, numbers and underscores, with no full stops. Twitch allows 4–25, Reddit 3–20 including hyphens, and Discord 2–32 in lowercase. Xbox gamertags show 12 characters, with a number suffix added if your choice is taken. Avoid characters that are easily confused (l, 1 and I; rn and m), long strings of numbers that look like a birth year, and anything that could embarrass you in a job search later. Combining part of your name with an interest (maya.makes, ChenCodes) works well for creators. Honest limits: the generator can't check whether a name is taken, so try your favourites on the platform. Platforms also change their rules and block certain words, so the sign-up form has the final say. The business name generator, the hashtag generator and the link-in-bio generator are related.
