Insert Blank Pages in PDF

Add blank or lined pages after every page, chosen pages, or pad for booklets.

About this tool

Choose a PDF, then decide where blank pages go: after every page, after specific pages, at the start, at the end, or padding the total to a multiple of 2, 4, 8 or 16. Set how many blank pages to insert each time and tick Lined note pages for ruled lines. The summary shows the new page count before you download.

When to add blank pages to a PDF

Blank pages solve several everyday printing and document problems. Inserting one after every page leaves the back of each sheet empty when you print double-sided, or gives a facing page for handwritten notes, which is useful for lecture slides, scripts and proofreading. Adding pages after specific page numbers lets each chapter or section start on a right-hand page in a printed book. A blank at the start makes room for a separate cover, and padding at the end matters for booklets: a folded booklet needs a page count that's a multiple of 4, so a 14-page document needs 2 blank pages to print correctly. Lined pages turn the inserted sheets into note paper. Each inserted page matches the size of the page before it, so mixed-size documents stay consistent. Use page 0 in the list to insert before the first page, and ranges such as 3-5 to insert after each of those pages. Honest limits: bookmarks and internal links may point to the wrong page afterwards, and fillable form fields aren't copied to the new file. Processed on your device; the file is never uploaded. The booklet maker imposes pages for folding, the PDF organizer reorders pages and the blank page remover does the opposite. How booklet imposition works โ€” why page 1 prints next to the last page explains booklet printing.
