Lesson Plan Generator
Fill in and print a structured lesson plan with a timing check.
About this tool
Complete the fields for your lesson; start activity lines with a time such as '15 min โ'. The tool checks the timings add up to the lesson length and lays everything out as a clean, printable plan.
What goes in a lesson plan
A clear lesson plan starts with learning objectives (what pupils will learn) and success criteria (how they and you will know they've learned it). Next come the resources you'll need and a starter that hooks interest or recalls prior learning. The main activities usually move from teacher input and modelling to guided and then independent practice, followed by a plenary that checks understanding, often with an exit ticket. Note how you'll assess learning and how you'll differentiate, with support for pupils who need scaffolding and challenge for those ready to go further, plus homework or the next lesson's link. Put a time at the start of each activity line (for example '10 min โ Share a pizzaโฆ') and the tool totals the starter, main activities and plenary against the lesson length, showing whether you're over or have time spare. The example, a 60-minute Year 3 fractions lesson, adds up exactly. Print it or save it as a PDF for a teaching assistant, cover teacher, mentor or observation. Honest limits: this formats your plan and doesn't write lesson content, so adapt the headings to your school's template. Nothing is saved between visits, so print or save before closing. The rubric maker and the report card comment generator are related.
