About this tool

Why a wipe beats two tabs
Human eyes are bad at comparing images shown one after another and excellent at spotting a change under a moving edge — which is why retouchers, renovation companies and compression engineers all use the wipe. Uses that come up daily: checking whether a JPG quality setting is visibly worse than the original (usually not, above 80), seeing what the enhancer or a cutout actually changed, judging a design revision against the previous version, comparing a screenshot before and after a fix. Both images must share a frame for the wipe to mean anything — the tool stretches the second to fit and warns you if the sizes differ, so crop with the cropper first for a fair test. The export lays the two images side by side with labels at up to 1200 px tall for a post, a client note or a bug report; the merger offers more layouts.
Frequently asked questions
Do the images need to be the same size?
For a fair wipe, yes. If they differ, the after image is stretched to the before image's frame and the status line warns you. Crop them to match first.
Can I compare more than two?
Two at a time — that's what a wipe is for. Swap either image, or use the merger for a grid of several.
What does the export look like?
The two images side by side, labelled Before and After, up to 1200 pixels tall, as a PNG on white.
Are the images uploaded?
No — the slider is plain CSS on your device and the export is drawn on a local canvas.
