Good handwriting practice sheets
Children learn letter formation by tracing first and then copying independently, on lines that show where each part of a letter belongs. Each row on these sheets has a top line for capitals and tall letters (b, d, h, k, l), a dashed midline marking the height of small letters (a, c, e, o), a bold baseline that letters sit on, and a dotted descender line for tails (g, j, p, q, y). Your text is printed in light grey to trace, followed by blank rows to write it again unaided. Use large rows for early years and reception, and smaller rows as control improves. A rounded print style suits beginners, and a joined style supports cursive practice. Put a pupil's name, the week's spellings or a favourite sentence on the sheet to keep it personal. Honest limits: letter shapes come from fonts on your device, so they may not exactly match your school's handwriting scheme (for example precursive with lead-in strokes, Sassoon or D'Nealian). Check the preview before printing a class set. The text to handwriting tool and the spelling test maker are related.
