Blood Pressure Log

Home BP diary with averages, chart and printable report.

About this tool

Add each home reading (systolic, diastolic, pulse, date and time, arm and a note); the log classifies it, averages the last 7 and 30 days and mornings versus evenings, charts your readings, and prints or exports them.

Getting reliable home readings

Home monitoring gives a truer picture than a single clinic reading, which can be raised by 'white coat' nerves. To measure well, sit quietly for five minutes with your back supported, feet flat and your arm resting at heart level, using an upper-arm cuff of the right size. Avoid caffeine, exercise and smoking for 30 minutes before, don't talk during the measurement, and take two readings a minute apart. Doctors often ask for readings morning and evening for about a week before an appointment, and they look at the average, not single numbers. This log uses the same categories as the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association guideline: normal is below 120/80, elevated 120โ€“129 with diastolic below 80, stage 1 high blood pressure 130โ€“139 or 80โ€“89, stage 2 140/90 or above, and severe above 180 and/or 120. Thresholds differ by country; the UK's NICE, for example, uses a home average of 135/85. A severe reading should be re-checked after five minutes' rest; if it stays that high, get urgent medical advice, and call emergency services with chest pain, breathlessness, weakness or vision or speech problems. This log is not a diagnosis or medical advice. The blood pressure checker explains single readings.

Frequently asked questions

What is a normal blood pressure reading?

Below 120 systolic and below 80 diastolic, under the ACC/AHA guideline.

How many readings should I take?

Two readings a minute apart, morning and evening, for about a week before an appointment is common advice.

Why are my home readings lower than at the clinic?

Home readings are often slightly lower because of 'white coat' effect at the clinic; countries set home thresholds a little lower for this reason.

Can I share the readings with my doctor?

Yes. Print the report or download the CSV and bring or send it to your appointment.

Where is my data stored?

Only in this browser on this device. There is no account, nothing is sent anywhere, and Clear all deletes it; export a copy before clearing browser data or changing device.
