8D Audio Converter
Make a song circle around your head on headphones.
About this tool
Choose a song, pick how fast the sound should circle around you and how much reverb to add, then render it and listen on headphones before downloading the WAV.
How 8D audio works
The '8D' effect is binaural panning: the music is moved in a circle around the listener so it seems to travel from front to side to behind and back. A plain leftβright pan only changes volume between the ears; this converter uses the browser's HRTF (head-related transfer function) panner, which also applies the tiny timing differences and filtering that our ears and head add to sounds from different directions, so positions feel more like space around you. A circle every 8 seconds is the classic speed; faster rotation sounds dizzier and slower feels more ambient. A little reverb, from a generated room impulse, makes the space feel bigger. The output is peak-limited to avoid clipping and rendered offline, so it's faster than playing the song through. Honest limits: the effect only works on headphones or earbuds; the song is treated as one moving source, so the original stereo width is lost; 'behind you' cues vary between people; and browsers without 3D panning fall back to simple leftβright panning. Convert the WAV to a smaller file with the audio to MP3 converter; the audio echo tool adds other space effects.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need headphones for 8D audio?
Yes. The effect relies on each ear hearing a different signal, so speakers just sound like panning.
How fast should the sound rotate?
One circle every 8 seconds is the classic 8D speed. Choose 4 seconds for a dizzier effect or 12β20 for a gentler one.
Why is the 8D file so large?
It's saved as an uncompressed WAV. Convert it to MP3 to shrink it.
Is 8D audio really eight dimensions?
No, it's a marketing name for 3D binaural panning plus reverb.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is processed in your browser on this device; nothing is uploaded or stored.
