About this tool
Load a PDF, pick where the numbers go (bottom centre, corners, top), the style (plain 1 2 3, "Page 1", or "1 of 12"), the size, and the number to start from โ with a checkbox to leave the cover unstamped. Numbers are added as real text in Helvetica, subtly greyed so they read as page furniture.
The numbering conventions that matter
Documents assembled from parts โ a cover, then content โ usually want the cover unnumbered and page 1 to be the first inside page: that's precisely the skip-cover checkbox plus "start at 1". Legal and academic fronts sometimes number front matter separately; the "start counting at" box handles continuing a numbering scheme across merged volumes (start volume two at 47). "1 of N" style answers the reader's real question โ how much is left โ and recalculates N after the cover skip so the total stays honest. The stamp is placed inside the standard margins, clear of most content; documents with edge-to-edge artwork are the exception worth eyeballing after. Everything runs locally โ the file never leaves your device.

Can I skip numbering the cover page?
Yes โ tick 'skip the first page' and numbering starts on page two, counted as 1 (or whatever start number you set). The '1 of N' total adjusts to match.
Are the numbers real text or an image?
Real text, stamped in Helvetica โ selectable and crisp at any zoom, and it adds only bytes, not scanned-page bulk.
Can I continue numbering from a previous document?
Yes โ set 'start counting at' to the next number (say 47 for volume two). Combined with merging, that produces continuously numbered sets.
Will the numbers overlap my content?
They sit in the standard margin areas (24 points from the edge). Ordinary documents clear them easily; full-bleed designs are worth a quick check after stamping.
