How matching works โ and its honest limit
Each page is rendered to a small image on your device and hashed โ a fingerprint of the actual pixels, so โduplicateโ means VISUALLY identical when drawn, not merely similar. That catches the real-world cases: double-fed scanner sheets (same image object, repeated), duplicated pages from a merge gone wrong, and copy-paste assembly errors. The honest limit: the same physical page re-scanned twice produces two slightly different images โ different angle, different noise โ and counts as different, because at the pixel level it is. Near-duplicate detection would mean guessing, and a tool that deletes pages shouldn't guess. For judgement calls like re-scans, run the organizer instead โ its thumbnails make twins easy to spot by eye, and you choose which to drop. Blank pages, incidentally, all match each other โ the finder treats them as duplicates, which is usually exactly what you want.
